  • 1970

    Founded as a trading company for packaging machines and accessories by Claus Pohle and Peter Sakewitz in Buchholz in the Nordheide region.

    On 1 October, the brand “VARIOVAC” was established.
    The company relocated to Zarrentin am Schaalsee (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) to gain more space for the planned production of its own packaging machines.
    The location offered ideal conditions: a growing industrial area with excellent access to the A24 motorway (Hamburg–Berlin).

  • 1996

    Start of in-house production of the first thermoforming packaging machines.

  • 1998

    Strengthening the company’s position as a regional employer.

    Expansion of production and storage facilities at the Zarrentin am Schaalsee site.

  • 2008

    Construction of a separate administration building; the workforce continues to grow.

    Above-average increase in order volume, with a growing number of international customers and sales partners.

  • 2013

    Construction of a new dispatch hall featuring spacious areas for development and training.

    Increasing assumption of social responsibility through the training of motivated young people, for example as mechatronics engineers or warehouse logistics specialists.

  • 2016

    Certification according to the latest international standard ISO 9001:2015, demonstrating efficient internal processes and the successful implementation of a comprehensive quality management system.

  • 2017

    Commissioning of the first in-house five-axis CNC machining centre and start of large-scale in-house component production.

    A major expansion of the entire site is planned; an additional plot of land (22,903 m²) has been acquired.

  • 2018

    Completion of a new hall; an additional 2,948 m² for production, component manufacturing and office space.

  • 2019

    Expansion of in-house component manufacturing capacity through additional machining centres.

  • 2021

    Celebration of the 50th anniversary of PS SystemPack GmbH, including 25 years at the Zarrentin site under the ‘VARIOVAC’ brand.

    Further expansion of the CNC milling centre.

  • 2022

    Recertification according to the latest standard ISO 14001:2015, demonstrating the successful implementation of a comprehensive environmental management system.

    Launch of the ‘aware’ brand as a commitment to our ecological, social, and economic responsibility worldwide.

    Establishment of the VARIOVAC Foundation to support those affected by the war in and from Ukraine.

    Certification as a climate-verified company, marking the first concrete steps towards becoming a sustainable business.

  • 2023

    Construction of a 900 m² shipping hall and a canteen with a sun terrace.

    First certification as a family-friendly company, recognising the creation of a working environment that allows employees to balance family and career.

    Jörg Reimer is awarded honorary citizenship of the town of Zarrentin in recognition of his regional engagement and support for Ukraine; entered into the town’s Golden Book.

  • 2024

    Further expansion of in-house component manufacturing.

    Awarded “Company with Responsibility” in recognition of the establishment of the VARIOVAC Foundation as part of our support for Ukraine. The honorary certificate was presented by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Schwerin and was awarded to only seven entrepreneurs.

  • 2025

    Completion of additional production facilities, including a new office complex.

    Hosting of the 9th International VARIOVAC Sales Conference at the Zarrentin am Schaalsee site, with participants from 43 countries; highlights of the event included the introduction of the new Maximus RE thermoforming machine and the opening of the new production facilities.

    Further expansion of production facilities is already underway.
