As an international company, we are aware of our responsibility for sustainability and climate protection. Our machines influence the global use of packaging, while at the same time contributing to longer shelf life and reduced food waste. Our guiding principle: as much plastic as necessary, as little as possible – in close cooperation with customers and material manufacturers, as well as through research into alternative solutions.
In addition to enhancing our customers’ sustainability performance, we are continuously working on our own. With our aware initiative, launched in 2022, we consolidate all activities relating to the environment, climate and social responsibility, in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda and Germany’s sustainability and climate policies.

For us, sustainability starts with the environment. Through VARIOVAC aware, we are committed to the responsible use of resources and environmentally friendly technologies. Our aim is to continuously design our products and processes in ways that minimise environmental impact while enabling future-ready solutions for our customers.

Environmental and climate protection are global responsibilities – and we are playing our part through a certified environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 (since 2022). This enables us to continuously analyse and improve our environmental performance – both within our company and across our products and services. A key focus lies on circular economy principles and the 12-R strategy. We see significant potential for optimisation particularly in areas such as: material efficiency, energy consumption, waste, emissions, transport, and the handling of hazardous substances.

Measures already implemented include:

• Transition to hybrid and electric vehicles in sales and management
• Installation of EV charging infrastructure
• Digitalisation of the recruitment process
• Online FATs and virtual meetings to reduce business travel
• Use of swarf compactors to recover cooling lubricants
• More efficient transport route planning
• Switch to recyclable packaging materials
• Support for regional environmental projects, such as the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve

For us, sustainable corporate governance means firmly embedding quality, safety, and responsibility within our structures. Our commitment to continuous improvement forms the foundation upon which we act in the best interests of our customers, employees, and the environment.

Since 2016, we have been certified to ISO 9001, underscoring our high standards of quality. In 2022, we achieved certification to ISO 14001, which confirms our commitment to sustainable environmental protection. Additionally, we address topics such as occupational health and safety, information security, data protection, and compliance – each aligned with the relevant standards. This ensures that we operate reliably, responsibly, and with a focus on the future.
